As of now, Mom and Don are still in Florida. They left Texas on Thursday, December 29th and traveled to Florida where Plane to Sea has been stored since late October 2011. Over the last 2 weeks they have been working to remove the old motor and install a new one as well as get all of the necessary electrical equipment set up before setting sail.
First stop will be the Bahamas. A 48-hour window of good weather is needing before leaving the coast of Florida but they are in no rush. Safe travel is most important so they will leave when the weather is favorable.
I plan to keep you posted as often as possible so check back frequently! I'm hoping to teach Mom to blog as well so in the event they have a free moment in between all their island hopping, she can post too.
Until the next update,
Holly
Hey guys, the blog looks great! Can't wait to catch up with Don and Jan in some Bahamian port. Fair winds!
ReplyDeleteHey J&D...I know you are busy getting the Plane to Sea ready for the Big Adventure. The big water is waiting...all you need is a litle more time to finish the last details and a good weather report...then it is a Go!!
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to keeping up with you as you venture out on the Seas. As you know, we prefer a bigger boat,(like a Princess Cruise Ship) with a Captain driving for us, but we know that Captain Don will do just fine!!
Have a great time and enjoy your Adventure...love ya...J&J.
We are excited to hear that you are getting ready for your voyage!! I think the blog is a great idea. Mandi is in Italy and it is really fun to check out her blog every day...Thanks Holly you had a great idea!!! Nancy and Ralph
